Get to know Inglewood: East Nashville’s inviting, eclectic enclave
We just listed an East Nashville property that has our team enthralled: 3622 Brush Hill Road, a log-cabin-cool historic home on two acres of peaceful, green Inglewood property.
It brought us a good reminder that Inglewood, maybe more than any other Nashville neighborhood so close to downtown, is a particularly broad mix of what our city has to offer. Picturesque riverside views, quiet woodland hideaways, busy little hubs of local shopping, a growing dining scene — it’s all tucked a little northeast, a quick hike from the energized center of East Nashville.
Inglewood’s eclectic landscape
Our listing, 3622 Brush Hill Road, is located in Brush Hill, an Inglewood subsect that lines the Cumberland River. While a two-acre property isn’t an everyday offering even in Brush Hill, you’re much more likely to find your own woodland escape here than anywhere else in East Nashville. Since it’s tucked back by the river, though, a lot of Nashvillians — even a lot of East Nashvillians — don’t realize this pocket of Gatlinburg-esque tranquility is here.
Along Brush Hill Road and as you head south on Moss Rose Drive, you’ll also find homes that perch over the river, with some of Nashville’s best waterfront views. Head back west toward Gallatin Pike, East Nashville’s main artery, and you hit Riverside Village, a neighborly commercial corner that keeps getting bigger and busier, with a deli that slings some of the best sandwiches in America, a little record shop/boutique that earns praise from here to England and more.
In between, Inglewood has quiet corners full of mid-century ranches, stretches of upscale new builds on sidewalked streets… it’s an eclectic, community-centric area, and it’s only growing.
Inglewood business growth
East Nashville’s Five Points and other mixed-use spots have been bustling for years. But Inglewood’s been staking its own strong claim as an Eastside destination, and the pace has picked up considerably over the past few years.
Especially over the past year or so, 37216 has gained a slew of much-talked-about new businesses, from a Riverside Village sister to West Nashville-bred coffee shop Dose to Inglewood Lounge (a cocktail bar/eatery led by Actual Food’s Dan Forberg) and Chinese/Southern fusion restaurant TKO.
In the coming months, Inglewood’s also expected to add a new restaurant led by respected Chicago chef Greg Biggers, called Fort Louise. Just down the road in Rosebank, New York chef Julia Jaksic is expected to open Cafe Roze on Porter Road.
Light rail on the East Nashville horizon?
If Nashville’s first light rail line comes together as proposed too — running up and down Gallatin Pike — Inglewood’s appeal might kick into high gear.
Inglewood residents already have easy access to the East Nashville stuff that draws in people from all over the city (or the country, or the world). But a new public transportation option that connects the neighborhood to downtown could bring big changes — and a bigger boost in attention.
