Get to know Sylvan Summit, a Nashville neighborhood with Hollywood Hills-style views
If you’re buying a home in Nashville, there’s a neighborhood to suit just about any preference.
Looking for an established, family-friendly area with easy access to downtown? Green Hills might grab you. High-rise living with walkable shopping and dining? Maybe The Gulch. Arty vibes? East Nashville.
If modern architecture, easy access to Nashville culture and a Hollywood Hills-style panoramic view of the city are what you’re hoping for, we’d definitely guide you toward Sylvan Summit.
Other “Sylvan” neighborhood names — Sylvan Park and Sylvan Heights, specifically — have been more familiar in the past. But Sylvan Summit’s staked its claim in recent years, as sleek, high-end modern construction has reshaped the area, taking full advantage of the rare hilltop location overlooking the city.

If you zoom out to the rest of Nashville, you’ll see a sea of green and blue. In Sylvan Summit, those pops of high-elevation purple and white illustrate how aptly named the neighborhood is. Living in Sylvan Summit, you’re up on a charming, peaceful perch that lets you spend your evenings looking out over the wide and twinkling Nashville skyline.
Other Sylvan Summit perks
The top-of-Nashville elevation is a major plus, but it’s certainly not the only draw to Sylvan Summit.
A few of the reasons we fell in love with the area, and have been proud to list Sylvan Summit properties:
— It’s just a few blocks from Centennial Park, one of Nashville’s most beautiful green spaces and the site of all kinds of events throughout the year, from the Musicians Corner music festival series to Shakespeare in the Park.
— Standout spots in Nashville’s highly praised dining scene are blocks away too, including homegrown BBQ name Edley’s Bar-B-Que, gourmet market/wine bar Salt & Vine, celeb chef Jonathan Waxman’s Bajo Sexto Taco Lounge, and Farm Burger (home to one of the “Best Burgers in the U.S., according to Food & Wine magazine), among many others.
— You have quick access to just about anywhere in the city, nestled right between I-40 on the north side, 440 on the east and Charlotte Avenue on the south.
— The neighborhood’s keeping a pace of quick and steady growth, earning Sylvan Summit a deserved reputation as a fun place to live and smart place to buy.
Making a Nashville name
I can’t take credit for the remarkable renaissance that’s occurring in Sylvan Summit. A lot of that is due to Troy Heithcock of Heithcock Construction, who pioneered the contemporary-design boom here, starting near 33rd Ave. N. on Nevada, and continuing to beautify neighboring streets with new builds in a variety of styles and sizes, all with those brag-worthy views.
I can give myself at least a little back-pat, though, for putting my mark on Sylvan Summit in coining the name. Aside of maybe Green Hills, I don’t think there’s another Nashville neighborhood with a moniker that so completely evokes the draw of its landscape.
