High-End housewarming gifts for your favorite Nashville homeowners
My favorite moment, as a real estate agent in Nashville: seeing clients take their new keys in their hands. It’s the culmination of weeks or months of dedicated work, dream-home visions and juggled details.
My second-favorite moment: giving out closing gifts.
We really enjoy hunting for gifts that mark a celebratory moment, reflect our clients’ personalities and help make their new place feel more like home. When possible, we love to shop local, too.
If you don’t work in real estate, you’re not shopping for closing gifts, but closing gifts and housewarming gifts have a lot in common. So if you know someone who’s about to close/just closed on a new home, and you’re looking for something congratulatory, here’s a little help.
Below, a few items from Middle Tennessee shops, artists and artisans that I think any new homeowner would be thrilled to find a place for.
Shelby – Dawn art from 1767 Designs
$70
Nashville’s 1767 Designs rescues wood from soon-to-be-demolished homes in Nashville, and reimagines those materials into works of art that are full of warmth and charm. Whether you lean toward modern decor, vintage style or anything in between, I feel like their work can fit in, and beautifully. This particular design was inspired by Tennessee mountain ranges, which I think makes it especially appropriate for someone who’s celebrating capturing their own piece of the Volunteer State.
HollerDesign ButcherBlock
$150
I came across HollerDesign’s work by going out to Nashville restaurants. A furniture designer based in Lascassas, Tennessee, HollerD’s Matt Alexander has created subtle, classic custom pieces for places all around town, from The Grilled Cheeserie in Hillsboro Village to Rolf & Daughters in Germantown. If you have a friend who likes to cook, you can’t beat HollerDesign’s ButcherBlock cutting boards. The endgrain design makes them really tough and long-lasting, as well as beautiful. And all the wood that goes into these pieces comes from a farm that’s been in the Alexander family since 1829. Hard to get more real-deal Tennessee-artisan than that.
Nashville Tea Towel from High Fancy Paper
$18
High Fancy Paper designs and prints paper goods and textiles here in Nashville, from cards and art prints to tea towels like these. For Nashville newcomers, I like going with something hooray-for-Nashville like this Nashville-map towel — it’s a “welcome home” on two fronts. There’s one with downtown Franklin, too, that’s just as cool.
Ivy Ivy Ivy – Canyon Coasters from Two Son
$45
East Nashville shop Two Son was in Vogue magazine within, I think, weeks of opening… which speaks to the owners’ taste, apparent in big things to little things, like these cool coasters. Encourage your homeowner friends to protect their new furniture, in style — these are handmade with marbled clay, all unique and naturally cool.
Third Blanket from Wilder
$72.00
It’s tough choosing anything that could be considered decor for someone else. That said, it’s hard to go wrong with a throw, particularly when it’s Turkish loomed and classic. You can find these at Wilder in Germantown, and if you know what kinds of colors the new homeowners are leaning toward, there are several options, from this soft blue to a warm yellow.
Silver Cocktail Shaker at Draper James
$95
If your home mixologists only have one of those cap-topped cocktail shakers, the new home is a good excuse to help them upgrade to the kind pro bartenders don’t wag a finger at. This silver shaker, at 12 South shop Draper James (launched by Nashville-raised actress Reese Witherspoon), was inspired by vintage barware, so it’s simple, classic and classy. And there’s a lip on the interior to keep the ice from tumbling out, so extra points for utility.
Hope some of those items caught your eye. If you’re not shopping for housewarming gifts, but are about to shop for a new home in Nashville, please let us know if we can be of assistance. Call or email Radius Residential, and tell us about your plans!
